Other Examples:

  • A toddler engages in pattern recognition as they observe things that repeat in their environments such as colors, shapes, and events (i.e., bathroom tiles that are "this color and other color and this color and other color").
  • A child says, "I'm wearing a pattern" about a shirt with black, white, black, white (and so on) stripes.

Help your student become a(n) Pattern Recognizer

Throughout the day, help children notice  highly noticeable patterns such as clear ABABAB visual patterns on a stripped shirt or simple movement and rhythmic activities.  Mention "That was a good pattern!"
