Simple Disembedder

Identifies frame of complex figure. Finds some shapes in arrangements in which figures overlap, but not in which figures are embedded in others.

Other Examples:

  • Traces the outer frame of a picture that contains two figures. Not yet able to find the inner, embedded figure.  
  • With a picture of a smaller circle inside a larger circle, traces the outline of the larger circle. 

Help your student become a(n) Simple Disembedder

Activities ask children to find shapes in  photographs, pictures, and simple geometric drawings (e.g., overlapping shapes). Tracing the goal shape (the child, if possible, the adult if necessary) is helpful.
